Legal background of the software we sell
Where our licences and accounts come from, and why reselling them is lawful. Last updated 4 September 2026.
1. Who sells to you
Arcetis is operated by Arcetis LTD, registered in England and Wales under company number 17399569, registered office Office 20428, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, E6 2JA, United Kingdom.
2. Where our products come from
Every game licence, key and account we sell is a genuine licence that was lawfully purchased from the official platform or from an authorised distributor. We pay the full price set by the rights holder or their distributor for each licence before offering it for resale.
We do not sell cracked, modified, pirated or otherwise unlicensed copies of any software. Products are activated and played through the official platform client (such as Steam), and the game files themselves are always downloaded from that platform, never from us.
3. The legal basis for resale
The resale of lawfully acquired software licences is governed by the principle of exhaustion of the distribution right. Once a rights holder has sold a copy of a computer program and received payment for it, they cannot use copyright to prevent that copy from being resold.
The Court of Justice of the European Union confirmed this applies to software sold by download in Case C-128/11, UsedSoft GmbH v Oracle International Corp. (3 July 2012), ruling that the right of distribution of a copy of a computer program is exhausted on its first sale, whether the copy was supplied on a physical medium or by download, where the rights holder granted a right to use it for an unlimited period in return for a fee.
The principle derives from Article 4(2) of Directive 2009/24/EC on the legal protection of computer programs, implemented in the United Kingdom by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended).
4. Trademarks and independence
Arcetis is an independent reseller. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Valve Corporation, Steam, or any publisher or developer whose products appear on this site. Game titles and logos are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the products sold.
5. Rights holders
If you are a rights holder and believe a product listed on Arcetis infringes your rights, contact us at arcetissupport@gmail.com with details of the listing. We investigate every notice and remove listings promptly where a claim is substantiated.
